Research

Researching sustainable buildings today
To find a competitive sustainability strategy, we researched the world’s leading sustainable buildings. This let us compare both their technical certifications and how those are used in the narrative and communication of each project.

Strategy
Reducing consumption
Beyond a clean energy approach, we refined the idea of reducing consumption. That became a strategy of upcycling materials and elements from the existing building before demolition, and a type of construction where materials, components and products are designed for disassembly.

Reinvesting in amenity
The money saved by reusing materials was reinvested in the tower’s amenity spaces. We designed them as a vertical village that fosters collaboration, interaction and well-being, and makes the project’s sustainability narrative visible.

‘A tower like no other’
The final sustainability strategy is summarised in this diagram, using the same categories as our white paper on sustainable buildings.
